First comes love, then comes the voting…

I just discovered something terrible: Married on MySpace. It’s an internet reality show where an engaged couple lets the users of MySpace vote on every aspect of their wedding from the dress to the reception cocktails. Don’t believe me? Watch the trailer.

I suppose it’s not that terrible when you consider that MySpace covers the entire bill for the wedding, but this is a special ceremony. This is a day where you join your life with another person forever (that’s the intent, anyway). I don’t feel that a special day like this should be run by an audience poll. If marriage is truly a sanctified ceremony, this online reality show makes a mockery of it. At least the voters don’t get to veto the groom.

Agree? Disagree? Comment!

  1. Is this really all that different than the wedding schtick the Today Show has put on each year for the past few years? I am sure MySpace’s involvement with Fox production behind will make it even more tiresome, but hey…as you said, it’s the couples special day and if this is how they choose to do it, so be it.
